Vertigo is described as a sensation that the surroundings, or the person, are spinning. The cause is most often sought in the balance system of the inner ear.
Diagnosis begins with detailed questioning about the duration of episodes, their triggers and accompanying findings. Correct diagnosis is the precondition for correct treatment.

No. Blood pressure, medication and neurological causes can also produce dizziness. Assessment is therefore comprehensive.
The large majority of vertigo complaints do not require surgery. Treatment is usually managed with manoeuvres, exercises or medication.
Recurrence can occur with some types of vertigo. In that case reassessment is carried out and the plan updated.
